Zephyr Arabians
BA Storm Dancer
BA Storm Dancer Zephyr Arabians strongly believes that mares are the foundation and form the nucleus of any breeding program, and wonderful stallions are needed to match those mares. After years of searching for a stallion to bring home and compliment my beloved mares, Zephyr Arabians was thrilled to bring home BA Storm Dancer in early 2004. He meets my exacting standards for movement, conformation, temperament, type and pedigree.

"Stormy" comes to Zephyr Arabians from Lois Russell's Bend of the River Ranch, where he has lived most of his life. It is only because of the disbanding of Lois' last remaining horses he was made available. I am profoundly grateful that Lois has trusted me to be Stormy's new owner, as I understand just what he means to her. Stormy is one of only two intact sons of Lois' late great stallion, Aurlani Farwa. She tells me that watching Stormy grow up was like having "Lani" again.

Stormy blends the breeding programs of Dr. David Ward, Marjorie Van Gilder, and Lois Russell. This makes him an "outcross" within CMK for my mares which are primarily of the more Skowronek-based Gainey, McCoy, Dr. Munson (Shalimar), and Garth Buchanan (Comar) breeding programs. I might get some "hybrid vigor" in the foals, though they'll still be CMK - and unique in pedigree. Stormy does have one line to my favorite Skowronek son, *Raseyn, who is found throughout my mares' pedigrees, as well as bringing in lines to Naseem, the horse Lady Wentworth considered to be the best son of Skowronek.

Stormy's sire, Aurlani Farwa (by Aurab), was a Canadian Top Ten in Show Hack. He became known as a sire of endurance horses, and his offspring include BRR Aurber Lights the 1999 Tevis Cup Winner (bred by Lois Russell). Aurlani Farwa was out of the great mare Muferra, who also produced RT Muffin, the AERC Hall of Fame horse who holds the record for number of wins and number of Best Condition awards (co-bred by Lois Russell). With these kind of horses so closely related to Stormy - and this is just on the sire side for one generation - it's no surprise that in the limited number of foals he has already sired there are several actively competing in endurance, one with BRR Aurber Lights' owner/rider. Please see Stormy's pedigree for more details and photos of his direct ancestors.

Stormy's first impression is his incredible body balance and perfect legs. After that, his eyes grab your attention; they are large, dark, and show his gentle soul. Photos simply do not do justice to his face, he's a horse that needs to be seen in person to truly appreciate his beauty. And, probably most importantly, in motion he is everything one could ask for in an athlete.

Stormy is a joy to be around. He lives for attention and food! He is a natural distance horse and took to riding, and specifically trail riding, like he'd been going down trails all his life. Due to non-horsey life issues of my own, he has not had a chance to get out in endurance, but I do hope to get some AERC miles on him -- possibly starting in 2008 (he's 19, but he doesn't know that).

While Stormy was specifically selected to compliment the mares of Zephyr Arabians, his outstanding quality makes him an excellent choice for many mares of many different pedigrees. Stormy is only available to SCID clear mares. Please contact me to meet Stormy in person and to discuss breeding your mares to him!
